タイトル: 近代におけるスポーツの成立・発展に係わる諸問題の研究(7) : Gentleman教育とSport, Recreationとの関連について

抄録: 本論は，1555年に出版されたThomas Marsheの「The Institucion of a Gentleman(ママ)」と1630年に出されたRichard Brathwaitの「The English Gentleman」とに拠って，16／17世紀におけるGentlemanの教育的形成に係わる Sport，Recreation活動について，その教育的指針を追究する。そのために以下の2点，6項に論点をしぼって比較検討し，その思想的方向性を明示する。1)The Institucion of a GentlemanとThe English Gentleman両書の出版の意図について，2)Gentlemanに相応しく，有用なSport，Recreationについて，a)色々なSport，Recreationについて b)Sport，Recreationの適正な活用，不適正な活用について c)適正な Sport，Recreationによって高められる利益についてd)いかにしてGentlemanはRecreationに培うか; This paper is a comparative study on a guiding principle of the Gentleman's education and Sport or Recreation in“The Institucion of a Gentleman”and“The English Gentleman.”This study makes clear both principles on the basis of the following two investigative points. 1) On the substances and Characteristics of“The Institucion of a Gentleman”and“The English Gentleman.”2) Of the moderate and useful Sport or Recreation for Gentleman. a) Of the difference of Sport or Recreation，b) Of the moderate and immoderate use of Sport or Recreation，c) Of the Benefits medownding from moderate Sport or Recreation，d) How a Gentleman is to bestow himself in Recreation，This study makes it clear that the useful Sport or Recreation for Gentleman's education is the moderate Sport or Recreation，and such a Sport or Recreation confers benefits (to refresh and to recreate) to the mind and likewise the body.
